Authenticating with Comcast & Xfinity

The first step in connecting to a Comcast / Xfinity mailbox with Forensic Email Collector (FEC) is to enable access to third-party apps. You can accomplish this as follows:

Once third-party app access is enabled, you can use the built-in Comcast profile in FEC for the acquisition. It is important to note that Comcast expects only the local part of the end-user’s email as the username. In other words, if the target mailbox is john.doe@comcast.net, enter john.doe as the username in FEC.

Please refer to the following Xfinity document regarding the creation of Application Passwords. Once created, you would use the Application Password in lieu of the password in FEC.
