Benefits of A Dongle License

You can purchase soft and dongle licenses of Forensic Email Collector. If you choose the latter, we ship you a USB hardware dongle, which will be used to license the software.

We use a “driverless” dongle which is recognized by Windows automatically without having to install additional driver software. Our dongles are compatible with hypervisors such as VMware.

The main benefit of a dongle license is its mobility. While a soft license key is activated over the internet and tied to a specific computer, a dongle license does not require activation and can be moved from computer to computer simply by removing the dongle from one computer and plugging it into another.

In summary, soft licenses may be preferable in data center scenarios where the license is installed on a computer and stays there—rarely being moved. On the other hand, dongle licenses are ideal for field use such as a law enforcement agency’s using the software while executing search warrants or a digital forensics consultant’s performing field work at client sites on their mobile workstation.
