How to Move a Soft License

Forensic Email Collector (FEC)‘s soft licenses are tied to the computer where they are installed. However, to accommodate hardware changes, soft licenses can be moved from computer to computer up to twice per year.

In order to move a soft license, you can follow the steps below:

1. Launch FEC and visit the soft license management page

2. Click UNINSTALL

3. Close and uninstall FEC

4. Install FEC on the new computer using the same license key

If you exceed the two moves per year, you will see a message that reads “the number of installations for this license key has been exceeded”. Please contact our support for assistance. If you find that you need to move your FEC licenses often, consider upgrading to a dongle license.
